Seongsu was built on working hands. Shoemaking workshops, leather ateliers, factories that kept their marks on every surface. That industrial texture is exactly what BORNTOSTANDOUT chose to build its third flagship around, and the result is a space that uses the neighbourhood’s own material history as a design language rather than erasing it.
The flagship spans two floors and a separate annex within a red brick building that still carries the grain of its past. On the ground floor, display structures built from reclaimed wooden pallets pay direct homage to the area’s working origins, while aged brick and raw surfaces surround fragrance presented as object rather than product. Korean contemporary artists’ work fills the walls, and the space holds that deliberate tension between what’s been left behind and what the brand has placed inside it.

The second floor shifts register entirely. Created in collaboration with artist group SILO LAB, the level houses a large-scale media artwork exploring layers of self-perception, with pigeon-shaped CCTV cameras installed throughout, creating a disorienting loop between surveillance and inward reflection. Across the courtyard, the annex takes the brand’s iconography to its furthest point: rats hatching from eggs, pigeons perched on every surface, the raised middle finger repeated across red-saturated walls, an infinity mirror corridor, a room filled floor to ceiling with tangled red tubes, and a wall of stacked vintage CRT televisions looping “WHO FUCKIN’ CARES” and “REBEL AGAINST STANDARD” on rotation.

The opening also introduces EXTRAIT DE CAFÉ, the brand’s new Fine Fragrance Coffee line, built on a single origin Brazilian Mogiana NY2 base that undergoes deep aromatic infusion and a month-long maturation before reaching the shelf. The six flavours, Dolce Rosso, Crème Coco, Peach Confit, Honey Caramel, Amarena Cherry and Durian Custard, are composed the way a perfume is composed, with top, heart and base notes given the same attention as anything in the fragrance range. A branded espresso setup sits inside the flagship for visitors to taste through the line in person.

BORNTOSTANDOUT has always positioned itself as a cult brand for people who find conventional beauty retail actively tedious. The Seongsu flagship is the clearest physical statement of that yet: a space that uses art, provocation, industrial salvage and deliberate discomfort in equal measure, and trusts its audience to find their way through it.
